Thought of the Day

Two Wrongs Make a Right Theory

"Every single Republican who voted against convicting trump for inciting insurrection can STFU about Maxine Waters and anyone else FOREVER. The hypocrisy is breathtaking," said BrooklynDad.

I strongly disagree.

Trump and prior Republican hypocrisy have nothing at all to do with this case.

Yes, many if not most Republicans are big hypocrites when it comes to supporting Trump's capitol riot statements and actions.

But that does not imply it's OK to turn your head to obvious wrongs.

Jury Not Sequestered

The Jury Deliberations Begin Monday, but here is the important news.

Before Judge Peter A. Cahill sent jurors in the Derek Chauvin trial home on Thursday, he gave them short and vague instructions on what they might need to pack for deliberations next week.

“If I were you, I would plan for long and hope for short,” he said. “Basically, it’s up to the jury how long you deliberate, how long you need to come to a unanimous decision on any count. And so because that’s entirely up to you — whether it’s an hour or a week — it’s entirely within your province.”

After jurors hear closing arguments from both sides and receive further instructions from the judge on Monday, they will seclude themselves for deliberations, where they are tasked with coming to a unanimous verdict based on the evidence and arguments presented in court.

Jury Tampering

Waters violated curfew, poisoned public debate, and crossed state lines to demand justice as she determines.

The jurors could easily have seen or heard her nonsense whether or not they were told to stop reading the news.

Given the inflammatory charges, It may be difficult for a juror to not hear about this unless they all voluntarily locked themselves in their homes.

"We have to be more confrontational. We have to make sure they know we mean business," is an explicit call for violence given the current political backdrop.

Mistrial?

If I were judge Cahill I would consider declaring a mistrial and blaming it all on Waters.

Ironically, if the jurors do as Waters demands there will be appeals based on jury tampering or an unfair poisoned trial.

Playing Politics

I don't play politics in these discussions.

I thought Trump should have been found guilty in the second impeachment trial but I also thought the first impeachment was a farce.

It's easy to take one side or the other 100% of the time but I refuse. My stance has cost me a lot of readers.

Trump and prior Republican hypocrisy have nothing at all to do with this case. Like all cases, this should be decided on the facts, not politics.

Maxine Waters is unfit to be a member of Congress. It will be amusing, but disgusting, watching the Democrat hypocrites defend Waters.
